Singapore Woman Award Special
(Today Pg 68-69, 21 March 2013)
I was interviewed for a half-page article of a feature story on the three Singapore Woman Award Honorees with several thought-provoking questions, especially this one:
If there was one thing you could change in your life, what would it be?
“I gave a copy of Finding My Voice to a visiting speaker at my church service recently. His 10-year old daughter read it and wrote me a note, saying how she was glad I had my voice disorder otherwise I wouldn’t be writing children’s books. Her comment is both innocent and profound. I am writing today because my voice journey brought me to this chapter in life. I’ve realised it is important how I choose to live my present having gone through what has happened in the past.”

Finding Her Voice
(Her World March 2010)
Singapore’s leading woman’s magazine Her World interviewed me for a 5-page feature story on my journey of going from a losing my voice to a rare voice disorder in 1998 to finding my new voice, physically and metaphorically, in 2007 when I became an author of children’s books. The one moment that struck me most through this 7-hour interview came from a quote the reporter later obtained from my husband Ben about that period when I fell sick immediately after our wedding. “She morphed from a talkative girlfriend into a silent wife. Supporting her when her self-esteem was at an all-time low was rough but I loved her and believed in fufilling our wedding vows – to support her in sickness and in health.”
