As 2012 comes to a close, I’m using its final hours to reflect on this year that will soon pass. Over the past days, I have been giving thought to all the things I am thankful for. There have been many and I won’t go into them here.
But specifically on the mummy front, it has been mainly to see Caleb grow by leaps and bounds in this toddler year.
* From his first steps of walking to running, first phrases to the little chatterbox that he is now, one month short of his 2nd birthday
* To enjoy his many moments of affection – how he always wants to hold hands with Papa and Mummy when Barney sings the song on family, how he wants to hug Papa when Ben returns from work and hug Mummy at sleeping time.
* To see his interaction with family – how he and his equally mischievous Grandpa tease each other and how he loves to sing and dance with Grandma. How well he plays with his older cousins Annabel and Isabelle who absolutely adore him.
On the family and personal front, I am reflecting on some additional thoughts posed by my friend on her Hearts of Mum posting “A time of reflection for the family”. I like my friend’s family tradition on how she ends the year and hope to adopt this as our family tradition with Caleb come next year.
Well, next year is but a few hours away!
The year seems to whisk by so very quickly. Time seems to be moving faster than before. Although it’s still the 24 hours a day, somehow, with packed schedules and more automated machines and electronic devices around us, each 24 hour day seems to end as quickly as it started. And now, we are standing at the threshold of another new year!
As the year draws to a close, it is good to spend some quiet moments reflecting on these past 12 months. And even as we spend time alone doing that, have you considered gathering the family and reflect on the year that has gone by and to commit the new year to the Lord together as a family?
